Quarter midgets ARE karts....with bodies. You might be thinking of Mini-sprints, or Micro-sprints, but they're not really go-karts. Shifter karts are karts with motorcycle engines, and they have transmissions (thus the shifter in the name).
Why are shifter kart's so much money?
i raced karts for about 10 years. Nationally, internationally, everywhere. I raced against danica patrick, fernando alonso, sam hornish jr., etc. The reason karts are so expensive now, is because they are THE best training for drivers. They are fast....
